Greener Vision Produce

Well, the *new* growing season is officially started!  A few things made it through the winter, a few "spring things" are up and productive, and *tons* of summer stuff is being put in the ground!

Central Texas' growing season for summer produce begins as soon as the last frost has passed.  This year, there were a couple of bonus frosts beyond the average last frost date of March 15th.  The last frost was well into April.  That put a crimp in things, but we're rapidly sticking plants in the ground, and seeds are already sprouting.  That's not to say that summer produce is ripening yet :)  About this time

Keep an eye on the fields and you'll see all the progress!

Back at the ranch, things are really greening up!  Grazing is much better out in the fields after these rains we've been finally having.  That means no more hay!

We have a few more new baby goats hopping about - Schaeffer named one "John 3:16", and Lanny named the next two "Sacagawea" and "Squanto" :)

And anyone who needs a new kitten, just let us know.  We have five baby kittens, with their eyes just opening.  Macy named the yellow/offwhite one "Snowball" (she's three, so she doesn't get her own joke), and we have "Catastrophe" and "Chaos" named by Eli, and "Missie" and "Marty".

Egg laying is in full swing.  We're getting around five dozen a day now, many of them the pastel-colored eggs we wrote about earlier.
