Greener Vision Produce

"Market Days" are here!  The first produce is being harvested from the field.  We've decided that for this year, Saturdays will be our only regularly-scheduled opening. Whatever we have available will be out on a table Saturdays from 10-4.  Stop in to pick up some, to chat with us, or just to look around.  Right now we're finishing up the last of the spring stuff and heading into summer - Squash of all kinds, some green beans, and the first hints of the tomato crop are coming in.  There are still herbs and we might come up with cucumbers soon.  The melons are covered in flowers, come see!

For those of you who are hoping for summer veggies (mainly tomatoes, peppers, and corn), rest assured they're growing just as fast as they can.  Fresh, outside-grown tomatoes in Texas began to arrive late May, about the same time as the first of the squashes.  Green beans are in and peppers, then corn and melons near the end of June.  We'll have lots of all those things and more, just be patient :)

Back at the ranch, we have baby goats hopping everywhere.  There are over a hundred pullets (teenage chickens) roaming out in the field.  We have nesting boxes built for them and they are starting to lay eggs!

The big chickens have already ramped up production, and the pullets' eggs are still small, but big enough to sell now. We're getting three dozen sellable eggs a day from the older chickens plus three dozen sellable pullet eggs.  Hope you're hungry.

We've got some great egg recipes if you need ideas, just look on the blog.
